26- Celebrating Failure
Life is not easy and we all have our personal failures. This semester was a difficult one for me because I had to really juggle my classes because of the rigorous dedication it takes to be an architect student. I think what I failed at this semester was time management. It’s difficult because you have to be an expert at this to do well in all your classes. Unfortunately, I most likely will not achieve a B in this class for it to count towards my minor. Sure I was pissed off at first when I started to do the numbers, but there was something special that this class did for me. It sparked creative thought outside of architecture. This semester, as I am ending my second year of college, I am starting to think about what is next in life.
I’ve realized that architecture is a beautiful profession because of its exquisite use of design. I love architecture but my passion is to design for all. Having said this I want to bring design to every aspect of life not just our buildings. I want to impact the world on a more personal scale by designing clothes, furniture, art installations, pop-up shops etc. Design is such an essential part of life and I want to express that through my work.
How I relate this all back to failure is personally I have failed to meet the requirement for this class. To me this is not discouraging though because I used this failure to build my knowledge about entrepreneurship. I understand how important social contact is as well. I think if I took one thing away from this class it would be that the most important part to understand about business is people. Humans are such a unique breed.

Baron,
ReplyDeleteIt seems that time management was really a killer for a lot of us. This class alone was so much work to keep up with. I actually missed about three assignments total in this class due to poor time management. This failure is important for us I believe. We will now focus on making sure we delegate our time appropriately to achieve what we need to. I have to agree with your last statement as well. It is extremely important for us to understand people. Without people buy or use our services and products we are nothing. Nice job!
Baron,
ReplyDeleteTime management was the same thing I wrote my post about. Often times I thought I had free time and I would relax, but then everything caught up to me at once which is super stressful. I like how you said that your take away from this class would be understanding that business is people. That was a very interesting and valid way of putting it. Great post!
Hi Baron!
ReplyDeleteI am definitely one to understand struggles with time management. Time management is my biggest obstacle when it comes to classes. It can be so difficult to make myself sit down and finish all the work I have to do. I also will not do as well in this class as I had hoped; I forgot to upload my link a few times or declare a post, etc. Work and time can be hard to manage but it's about learning along the way and growing from it. Great post!
Hi Baron,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your post and thought it was very organized. I think your idea is creative and very useful. Since I live in a three-story building, I can relate to this problem and agree that most college students struggle with it as well. I can’t wait to read more of about your idea in the future. Great Job!
