11- Idea Napkin

Hello my name is Baron Baumeister. I’ve been writing for this blog for about a month now and and you must be wondering where this is going. First I’m going to tell you a little bit more about me. I am a second year student majoring in architecture. For me this major provides what I have always been trying to express and that is my passion for design. I have always been fascinated about design and just being creative. I am also an artist and photographer outside of school. These hobbies help me to think creatively and outside the box. I also love to get outside and exercise. I hope to one day own my own business which would include many professions of creativity. Under Baumeister Design, I see myself having many projects and business ventures with one important aspect, great design. I have assessed problematic situations that affect my local community and our nation as a whole. My first product I am seeking to put on the market is a specifically designed helmet to protect bikers, skateboarders, motorcyclist, etc. Riding a bike to school is an essential part of my day and I hope to make people enjoy wearing safety gear.

I have interviewed many people in my local community and a very pressing issue I found was the lack of safety when riding bikes, scooters, etc. To solve this problem, I am in the process of designing this futuristic helmet that is portable, yet effective. This helmet would include lighting that would make vehicles more aware of your presence. It would also be able sync with your phone to provide you useful data.

The customer for this product will be a wide variety of people that use micro transportation. I want to focus on younger people because I feel like this is the group that does not necessarily take safety into account. My customers all have one thing in common and that is their way of transportation.

People will pay for this product because it is not designed poorly. I took a look at competition in this industry and I can see why people don’t want to wear helmets…because they are hideous. They also lack portability and twenty-first century technology.

What my product has that no one else has is a pleasing aesthetic that is very versatile. This product makes buyers confident with being on the road with other vehicles while looking stylish.

  1. Baron,

It's nice to learn a bit more about you and your aspirations. I completely understand why people do not wear safety gear due to the fact it is atrocious in fashion. I do think that if you can make your safety gear "cool" it could be a viral thing. People are really starting to care about themselves more these days and I don't see why this shouldn't trickle all the way down to safety gear. All these baby boomers need to spend that money on something!! Nice job.
