18- Customer Avatar

My customer avatar for my specialized motoring helmet would be a 25 year old male (Chad) that lives in New York City. Chad enjoys riding his bike to his office that is currently a 25 minutes away from his studio apartment in Brooklyn. He works at a startup design company that specializes in furniture. In his free time, Chad is active. He goes to the gym daily, plays basketball for a recreational league, and competes in triathlons. Currently the only means of transportation for Chad is his bike because of the extreme cost to own a car in New York. This is why Chad does not mind buying a product like mine because he sees it as a crucial part of his life. Chad watches Netflix most of the time. He is very fashionable and is often complimented on how well he dresses. His attraction to my product is because of this design ascetic he is looking for. Chad does not have a spouse or girlfriend. He goes into the city occasionally to spend time with friends and party. He also loves to work on side projects in his home.

I have a lot of similarities with Chad. I am not as active as Chad is but we both have a passion for well designed products. I also ride my bike to get where I need to go. I do not think it is a coincidence that Chad and I have so much in common. I think, in general, we all most likely designed an avatar that is most like us because the problems we are trying to solve are issues that pertain to us. I also think my target market involved is on the younger side. I want to prove to younger generations that wearing a helmet can actually benefit you rather than be a nuisance.

  1. Baron,

I really enjoyed how much depth you went into when think about your customer avatar. I have to agree with you that this definitely seems like your ideal customer. It is interesting that you pointed out that we design avatars that are like ourselves. This has actually been a common theme across a lot of posts. It would have been nice if you included the pictures that we were required for this assignment. Otherwise, nice work.

  2. Hi Baron! I really enjoyed reading about your customer avatar, Chad. I like that he has a name and so many specific personality traits. Chad seems to be a typical young, active, fun millennial living in an urban area. I, too, designed an avatar that is similar to myself. It is easiest to choose a market for your product/service when the target consumers are people you can relate to.
