The Invisible "Bugs" in my Life

Many days we go about life not noticing the little details. I like to think about the invisible problems that exist in our every day routines. Here is a list of some of those “bugs” I find in my life:

  1. How salsa in bowls/cups spill out when you try to get some
  2. Having to tie shoelaces constantly throughout the day
  3. Waking up to an alarm on my phone
  4. Not being able to be more productive on your way to work/school
  5. No one being social on my bus drive in the morning
  6. How sports figures gain a bigger paycheck then every day American heroes
  7. Filling up my car with gas weekly
  8. Not being able to go to sleep because of looking at screens all day
  9. Not being able to make an income
  10. Public transportation specifically the bus I take every morning
  11. A better way to find roommates
  12. Having to go buy groceries weekly
  13. Social media and how it effects the way we perceive each other
  14. Not being able to manage time effectively
  15. Charging electronic devices
  16. Waiting for my car to warm up in the morning when it is cold
  17. My head phone ear buds falling out when I wear them around my neck
  18. Bringing in dirt and mud into my house when I walk through the grass in my neighborhood
  19. Coming home late and not being able to walk to my room because it is too dark
  20. Getting out of bed to turn on my lamp in the morning

Now I will describe why these “bugs” exist in my life:

  1. There is no edge or rim on most bowls and cup you put salsa into
  2. With a shoelace I do not always tie them perfect
  3. The alarm on my phone is not always reliable and able to wake me up
  4. I have to drive my car so this prohibits me from using my laptop and phone
  5. Everyone is on their phones and has headphones in
  6. Sports bring in an enormous amount of money while fire fighters/cops daily activities are unseen
  7. My car is not electric and is not powered by something other than gas
  8. Blue light prohibits the natural production of melatonin in your body
  9. I do not have time to work a typical job with the timing of my classes
  10. I have to get to campus and cannot park near the architecture building because of certain decals required
  11. I have had problems with my roommates for the past two years because I could not meet them in person before
  12. I must eat and my refrigerator only has enough room to store a weeks worth of food
  13. Everyone has telephones nowadays
  14. My schedule for school does not allow me to think about the week ahead
  15. Electronic devices only have a certain capacity for battery storage
  16. The fluid in my car gets too cold
  17. The earbuds are interchangeable and not customized to my specific ear
  18. My doormat does not get all of the dirt off my shoes
  19. There are no guiding lights or light switches right next to the door
  20. My lamp does not have bluetooth setting

Creating this list was quite difficult. I feel that there are many distractions in my daily life that prohibit me from unearthing the fine details that bother me every day. I am also used to my routine and I subconsciously get comfortable with these problems. Breaking my routine I think would be the first step in finding more problems that cause these little hardships in my life and the life of others.

  2. Hi Baron! I enjoyed reading your bug list. I especially relate to the struggle of having to charge electronic devices. In order to prevent my devices from losing charge too quickly, I have invested in a phone case with an attached battery that lasts for several hours. However, this does not solve the same issue I have with my laptop and other devices.
